Dabeli Known to have originated in the Kutch region of Gujarat,  dabeli  is an interesting blend of softness and crunch in one go. Enter Gujarat and you'll see big streets and narrow lanes thronged with  dabeli  stalls. This scrumptious cousin of vada pav is prepared by stuffing spiced potato mixture in buttered  paos  that are grilled on a  tawa . A special  dabeli masala  goes into the making of this delight along with garlic and tamarind chutney. To add an extra crunch to the dish, generous portions of  sev gathia  and juicy pomegranate seeds are sprinkled over the same. This Indian street food is also very common in the state of Maharashtra and is immensely loved by locals.

Every household makes its own handmade khakra and has their recipes. Different spices and ingredients like methi, pudina, jeera adds different tastes to the Khakras. Gujaratis love to take Khakras with them on long journeys.  Khakras are personally my favourite among the Gujarati Snacks. I often add Ghee and a Peanut Chutney on top of it.  Khakra’s are Best Served With : This dish goes well as it is. But one can easily have it with a little chutney or even diced raw onion. It also goes amazingly well with masala chai and curd.

Dhokla

Dhokla – The King Of Gujarati Snacks. This is the most famous Food item of Gujarat that almost, every Indian knows about. Dhokla is a widely eaten Gujarat Food Dish for breakfast or as a snack.  Fermented rice and chickpeas are the main ingredients of this dish.  Due to steaming the dish comes out quite fluffy. The Dhokla is then garnished with fried mustard seeds, green chillies, cumin seeds and grated coconut.  People enjoy dhokla with sweet chutney and coriander chutney. Dhokla is also found in several other forms like rawa dhokla, besan dhokla or khatta dhokla. Another similar dish is the  Khaman dhokla   which gets entirely made from gram flour. They may distinctly be fluffier and lighter in colour. Dhokla is Best Served With:  This dish goes well with chutneys of all kinds. Dhokla may work as a  complimentary dish or it stands out alone as a snack.

Nisarg If you are wondering the reason I am mentioning the name of a  seafood  restaurant in the list of  Biryani  places, then you’re probably not a true explorer of biryani in Pune. Otherwise, you would have known that, besides providing extremely mouth-watering  seafood dishes , they also provide some  spoon-licking biryani.  So, when you’re here to try out some  Bombay   duck , remember to save some tummy space for at least a plate of  Chicken  Biryani. The place also has a nice ambience besides its  affordability , so, no wonder why it has become one of the frequently visited places of the  Pune teens . What to Have:   Chicken Biryani. Taaareef Whenever there has been a debate about  Chicken  Biryani in the town, Taaareef has always come up as a mandatory name in the list. The repetition of “a”  three  times in the name “Taaareef” almost defines its stature in the list of  best biryani  places. You do not possibly know what biryani is if you have not been here. You can definitely relish on the authentic biryani flavors,  at least two to three plates, on a Sunday. What to Have:  Chicken Biryani.
